Guy Davis has spent his musical life carrying his message of the blues around the world, from the Equator to the Arctic Circle, earning him the title “An Ambassador of the Blues.” His parallel careers as a musician, music teacher, and film, TV and Broadway actor earmark Guy as a true Renaissance man, yet the blues remains his first and greatest love. Guy’s newest album, Sonny & Brownie’s Last Train – A Look Back at Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry was nominated for Best Traditional Blues Album.
Fabrizio Poggi is an Italian harmonica player who produced the latest from Guy Davis, and plays on the album as well. He has received the Hohner Lifetime Award, and has been a Blues Music Awards nominee, and during his long career has recorded twenty albums. He has performed in the US and Europe with The Blind Boys of Alabama, Garth Hudson of The Band, Steve Cropper, Charlie Musselwhite, Ronnie Earl, John P. Hammond, Marcia Ball, Guy Davis, Eric Bibb, Flaco Jimenez, Little Featand many others.
Eric Bibb’s music is always reverent, keeping one foot in the blues and folk storytelling traditions. His latest release, Migration Blues, has earned Eric Bibb his second Grammy nomination in a career that spans five decades, thirty-seven albums, countless radio & TV shows, and non-stop tours. He is proud to support the Music Maker Relief Foundation.
Dom Flemons, known as “The American Songster”, his repertoire of music covers nearly 100 years of American folklore, ballads, and tunes. Flemons is a music scholar, historian, and multi-instrumentalist. He has been a professional touring musician for the past ten years and has traveled around the world presenting traditional folk and roots music to diverse audiences. He is a co-founder of the Carolina Chocolate Drops who won a GRAMMY for Best Traditional Folk in 2010.
